TaylorMade RAC OS 2 Review by kiddo, April 11, 2008

TaylorMade RAC OS 2 Review by john, May 15, 2008
As a new golfer I was told to try the TaylorMade rac OS2 pitching wedge, that it was a forgiving club for the newbie. I would have to agree! I do however find that the steel is a little heavy.

This review is about the TM RAC OS II with regular 90g steel shafts. Well, I must say this was my first and only set of irons so far. Nevertheless, I often try my partners’ sticks because I am kind of curious about golf gear so I kind of have terms of comparison..
Taylor Made RAC OS II are great for the newcomers do this sport. It is really forgiving on mis-hits and thin shots and its wide sole will help you make solid contact on any kind of lie you may find your ball after hitting the “hammer”.
I personally find the long irons (3 and 4) hard to hit if you are not physically strong and if your clubhead speed is not that fast (anything below 80 mph)! However, because of the large cavity back, the ball will fly, even if only a low flight, on poorly hit shots.
The mid irons is an all different story. Really easy to hit on every lie and I personally think that they will give you an extra distance compared with clubs for high handicappers.
The short irons are sweet! Really, but really forgiving (wider sole than the mid and long irons). So don’t be surprised to find more greens on short par-4. However if you are a mid handicapper who’s beggining to enjoy working the ball, these are not for you! Really difficult to make back spin with these clubs and to draw or fade with the short irons. However, if you are looking at this review you are not likely to want to work the ball but instead to hit the ball straight. This club will do the job for you even on poor shots! (Remember that swing mechanics is what indeed drives the ball straight, but clubs can help you improve poor contact outcomes!)
The pitching wedge around greens is not so great. It has to much bounce and a really wide sole which keeps you from making good solid contact particularly in flop shots (straight up and down balls).
TaylorMade RAC OS 2 Review by xluke, May 26, 2008
Tried these irons out and was pleasantly suprised that the rest of the reviewers were right, and they do hit really accurately and well. They are quite light, and I do feel hit marginally further than my old set of really cheap mixed donnay and dunlop irons which were crap. These are good for higher handicap players, but would not necessarilly reccommend them to better players. My only real gripe with the irons is the sand wedge, the design of the clubs top edge is a bit too thick to fully get under the ball and give you a perfect contact every time. I found myself reverting back to my old bladed sandwedge which gave me more feel and consistency, before i bought the taylor made rac wedge. The pitching wedge however is awsome and I have no problem hitting greens from a distance with that. The lower irons are very easy to hit and I was suprised that I seem to hit some fairly decent shots even with the 3 iron, which I was never able to do before. I bought these from American golf and payed £200 pound for, but is seeming like money quite well spent as I have dropped my handicap from 26 to 20 in around a month.
TaylorMade RAC OS 2 Review by future_tiger, June 21, 2008
These clubs are great. I used to play with Cobras, which were outdated, but I received the RACs as a gift from my parents as a Christmas gift. I have played about 15 rounds with them and I have loved them. If you are debating buying these clubs, I would seriously recommend getting them. They are amazingly forgiving, especially on mis-hits. I have noticed an increase in my distance as well. Before, I could hit a six iron close to 185 yards. Now, I am routinely hitting the same club anywhere from 200-215 yards. Easily the best clubs there are when it comes to forgiveness. Hitting it solid is the greatest feeling there is, and you can get these sky-high, which is helpful when you are hitting a shot out of the rough. I love these clubs and I would never trade them in even if I wanted to. Period.

TaylorMade RAC OS 2 Review by igolf, July 14, 2008
As a fairly new golfer, I began with a friend’s Ping irons. After several awful rounds I was almost to the point of giving it up. Another friend of mine recommended the RAC OS set of irons before giving up the game…we now play every week together. These irons are amazingly forgiving. I immediately began hitting straighter shots which gave me the confidence to begin developing my game. Even my not so pretty mis-hits go straight enough for me to avoid “blowing up” too often.
If you are new to golf and find yourself getting past the point of frustration, I highly recommend you try these irons before you condemn yourself to a life without this wonderful game.
In a matter of about a year, my scores have steadily gone from low 100s to my most recent score of 84. The confidence these clubs provide may be exactly what you need to begin improving your shot consistency. I will be forever greatful to these clubs for allowing me the opportunity to see just how gratifying the game of golf can be.
TaylorMade RAC OS 2 Review by timm0412, August 2, 2008
Hit these clubs on the course the other day and have never hit any clubs like them. Had to buy a set as soon as i could. They are very easy to hit and are long and high. They fell solid and mis hits still fly in the direction of the shot. I would recommend these to anyone. They are an instant game improvement. I love these and will have them in my bag for a long time.
TaylorMade RAC OS 2 Review by napslokk, August 6, 2008
This is my first real season golfing. I have gone out about every week since April. I bought the Rac OS 2 about a month ago. I was choosing between these, Nike Ignite, and TM R7 irons. I did not go with Nike because I just like TM better. I did like the R7 grips better and both felt good. I only chose the Rac because they were $100 cheaper and all the specs are the same between the two irons.
Here is what I have learned so far. The grips are nice. The irons feel great in my hands. The PW is scary. I am really afraid of sailing the green on some chip shots, but have not done so yet. I hit the 8 iron about 145, which to me is amazing. The 4 iron I hit about 180. Even if a skull a shot, these babies make the ball roll 100 yards. I even learned to crush the 3 iron. And these babies make the ball go straight. My last 2 times out, two par 3s I placed two tee shots less than 10 feet away from the pin. Yesterday, I broke 100!!! I still top some shots, I have taken a lesson this summer, and I watch the breakdowns of Tiger’s and Hogan’s swings. These clubs have definitely made me a better golfer. But I do suggest taking some lessons too.

I’ve had “NEW” SETS of Callaway X-16 Graphite and Wilson DEEP RED II Graphite Shafts Over the Last 6 years.
In 2005 I wanted to get a set of the “NEW” TaylorMade RAC OS2(2005) Irons. But, Good OLD TM wasn’t going to Price the OS2’s at a price that a NEW YORK CITY FIREMAN could just drop by your local Pro Shop and throw a SET into your car!!!!
SO IT’S 5 years later and MY TRUNK IS FULL!!! NEW MIZUNO F-60 Fairway Woods, A NEW MIZUNO MP-600 Driver, NEW 3,4,5 SIMAC Hybrids AND A FULL SET (3-PW,SW,AW,LW) of ***NEW*** TM RAC OS2 Irons!!!

I’VE TRYED THE NEW LINE(2008) OF TM’s, Callaway X-22, Cobra, PING and NIKE’s IT’S THEY’RE GOOD. BUT, THE OS2’s ARE SOMETHING ELSE!!! TRY THEM!!! YOU WON’T BELIEVE ME TILL YOU TRY THEM FOR YOURSELF!!! JUST DO IT!!!, JUST DO IT!!!
THEY ARE CHEAPER THAN ALL THE REST OF THE “NEWER-MODELS” BUT, YOU CAN GET A BRAND NEW SET FOR ABOUT $225/Steel & $305/Graphite!!!
