Having conducted some major iron testing recently,I can honestly say that, although by no means the most attractive, this is the best feeling iron I`ve ever hit.Now this has come as a bit of a surprise and I know you forged lovers will not believe it,but this really does feel better than a Mizuno.Don`t just take it from me try a demo iron and compare,I have. It`s as solid a ball strike as I`ve experienced and ball flight is very consistent.Ping really have created a superb iron and it is in my opinion much sweeter than the new S58`s which feel a little hard.If you can`t stand the look give it a try anyway and don`t hang on to the belief that forged are better than cast, that`s just plain rubbish!

Much as though I liked my G2 irons, with my I5 irons having less offset I feel that it is me back in control rather than the clubs. The ball flight is much more penetrating and with using these “better player” clubs, it makes me concentrate more on what I am trying to do.

Decided to get a set of Pings because they have the best fitting system. I did the static fitting online and it gave me Blue Dot, Aqua Grip, CS lite reg flex. Did TWO dynamic fittings and guess what? BLUE DOT, AQUA GRIP, CS LITE REG. FLEX. A true test of a club is if you can hit them off grass… I went to a demo day at a grass range just to make sure I could hit the Pings. I was looking at the G5s but the soles were too thick for me. With less offset and thinner soles, the i5 was the way to go. I hit these things DEAD STRAIGHT off of grass. With inserts in the clubheads and the Cushin inserts in the shafts, I can swing with complete impunity, not having to worry about any hand shock on mis-hits. There is a loss of feel but my swing is pretty good so it doesn’t bother me. People looking for more feedback should definitely NOT get the Cushin inserts… even still, the i5s may not provide enough feedback. Stick with Titlists or Mizunos for feel. Drawing is not much of a problem with these clubs, I try not to hit too many fades so I can’t comment on that. These clubs are awesome to hit and great to look at, the construction quality is excellent, and they fit perfectly. I have a 5-PW set and my 5 goes 175 which is great for a light hitter like me. Very highly recommended.

I played blades for years because of peer pressure. I always hit them well enough, but never felt inspired at address. I finally got smart and bought these. Unlike my blade-toting buddies, I like a thicker top line and a cavity. Makes me feel like I can smack it pure almost every time. These I5s are solid. Rock solid. After puring a dozen balls with these, you’ll have a hard time going back to “player’s irons.” Nice job, Ping. These irons are your best yet!!!!

I recently decided it was time for new irons after playing with the old callaway s2h2 irons for a long period of time. I had been looking at the ping s58 and the ping i5s i got fitted and hit both well but went with the i5s for the extra foregivness. Ive been playing with the i5s now and love them. I feel i have more controll on my shots and around the green the ball really spins.

Used them a few times and already seeing the benefits in cleaner strikes, forgiveness and ability to shape the ball. Excellent build quality.

I previuosly owned some PING i3 Blade irons, which I though were very good. However, I recently decided to upgrade to a some PING i5 irons and never looked back. Since buying them, in my club weekly competition, I’ve finished 4th, 3rd and shot a Net 65 last week to win! No doubt that if I keep this up, my handicap will come down!

Started out 6 years ago learning to play with Mizuno Sures. Great beginner irons but felt after shooting in the mid -upper 80’s I could improve with better clubs.

Tried several brands of irons but decided on the Mizuno MP32’s 2 years ago. Could hit them straight and the well struck shots felt great. However I did lose some distance. Figured I’d get better with time and gain the distance back - wrong. Could never get the full potential out of the clubs, and after 2 frustrating seasons of being back in the 90’s, I decided to do it right this time.

Got fitted and tried several different makes and models of irons. Landed on the i5’s and never looked back. Great irons. Accurate and alot longer than the Mizunos. Just enough offset to still try and work the ball yet be forgiving on the occasional mis-hit. Do yourself a favor and 1) don’t try to hit irons that even the Pro’s have a hard time hitting, and 2) get fitted and take their advice. You’ll have alot more fun playing the game. I also liked the fact that I could buy an excellent quality product that is “American Made”.

Ping irons are known for getting up easily and these irons are no different. Lost a little distance from my previous set, but more than happy with the increased accuracy. These clubs bite and in combination with the increased altitude makes holding greens too easy.

Friendly clubs; toe and thinned shots still decent and keep me out of trouble. On-center shots are butter.

I was a callaway man for 10 years. I demoed the i5’s last fall and really liked them. I bought a set and I love the looks and feel of these clubs. I hit them straight with good distance. I like the thinner top line and sole more than the g5’s. Setting up to the ball just gives me more confidence with these clubs.

Set out to my Callaway X-12 graphite with X-18, and Ping G5(steel). Didn’t realize that the fitter slipped a i5(steel) into the mix.

Distance was equal for all clubs. Huge difference in accuracy. The shots with the i5 had the tighest dispesion by far. The Callaways scattered the most and the G5 were in between.

Club for club the Pings have higher lofts than the Callaways (e.g.,Ping 6-iron 30.5 degrees, Callaway 29 degrees)

In my opinion the higher loft, coupled with the accuracy of the steel shaft, and the reduced offset of the i5 made it the best club for me.

The performance on the course has matched the performance off the fitting mat and on the range. My Hdcp has dipped under 10 due to getting my approach shots closer to the hole.

These are a really nice set of irons. Sit well behind the ball and do not look too chunky at address. Quite forgiving on mishits and probably half a club longer than my previous Pings. All in all and excellent choice if you do not want the hassle of trying to hit blades.

Having tried almost every Ping Iron over the past few years (along with just about every other brand as well), I can honestly say that this is the best iron Ping has ever produced.
They have absolutely nailed the design on these irons; perfect combination of forgiveness and playability. The sole design is outstanding–less bounce than earlier Ping models, these irons are great from any lie.
Factor in a beautiful fit and finish, Ping’s excellent fitting options and customer service, and you have a truly classic iron.
I predict that this model will rival the Eye 2 for longevity.
If you are a 10 hcp or less, do yourself a favor and give these a look–you will not be disappointed.

These outstanding sticks have helped me drop my index from a 13 to a current 9.1. When properly fit with the right shaft, lie angle, and grips, anyone from a tour pro like Calc to a 15 handicap or so will get very good results. I’m 6′2″ and my irons are fit with zz65 stiff shafts plus 1 inch with midsize grips. Though lacking some of the feel that forged clubs offer, most players will benefit from the features of the I5’s. I have experienced consistent length, additional spin around the greens, and excellent results. Additionally, I find that I can work the ball either way with no problem.
