Cleveland CG4 Reviews

The Cleveland CG4 irons feature heads constructed of CMM material, which is considerably softer than other cast heads, due to the fact that it has 17% more carbon to create a softer, more solid feel at impact. They also feature a low and deep center of gravity to help get the ball in the air quicker.

After playing the Mizuno MX-20’s, I wanted to switch to a new set of irons. I loved the MX-20’s, and wanted to find a set that was similar to them. Before I even made it to the MX-23’s, I happened to come across a set of Nike ProCombo II OS’s brand new for $400. I gave them a try, and didn’t like them. Distance was ok, and long irons weren’t as forgiving as I would like. I took it to a local pro shop/range, and they gave me $530 for the trade value! I immediately jumped all over that deal. Even though the manager recommended the MX-23’s, he also suggested the CG4’s. I never played Cleveland products before, and was a bit hesitant about it. But from the rack, these irons look pretty atractive. On the range, wow, was I impressed. Shots are long and true. I can draw the balls just as easily as the MX-23’s ( I compared them side by side along with the Taylor Made Rac OS II). Immediately Taylor Made fell off the list. Chunky, too mucy offset, muted feedback, blah. I had hard time deciding between the 23’s and the CG4’s. So, I told the guy I’m gonna come back the next day, and immediately hit them right off the bat with a few long irons and a few short irons, cold. You know, like the most of us when we go out and play on the weekend. Finally, I chose the Cleveland the next day. They were just a bit more forgiving. And the feel, was comparable to almost the forged irons. And off center shots, balls still went straight and felt better in hands. I was just so impressed. First time out on the course, I could immediately tell what a great set of irons these truely are. They set up nice behind the ball, nice and balanced, and gets the ball out of thick stuff quick! Even my buddies were impressed by them and the way I’ve improved on my iron plays! Seriously give them a try if you’re in the market for a new set of irons. Give yourself a chance and ask yourself what you want the most out of a your iron games. I am a mid handicapper. As we get older, there’s less time to practice and improve. I needed a set that wasn’t clunky and heavy looking, and wasn’t good enough for smalle, blade-like irons. These CG4’s are truly best of both world. Great job, Cleveland. I am a fan now!

These clubs are the greatest clubs i have ever used.. very forgiving, easy to shape the shot … i have have hit the CG2’s they are relatively easy to hit as well but not as forgiving the cg4s maybe a bit chunky and be fairly offset but they look like a juniors club, but they play like the big boys… overall very good sticks easy to hit love hitting golf balls with them the great feel is outstanding

Wonderful clubs, a little longer than the Callaway X-16 pros that I was playing. These clubs are for the player with a 15 handicap and lower. Great feel and look.

After spending many months reading con-
sumer reviews and manufacturer web-sites,
I decided what better way to get golf
equipment at a discount than to sell it retail and get staff discounts! Hence, for the past year and a half, since working in the golf industry, I have hit or demo’d basically every club you can possibly imagine.
My very first set of clubs were Cleveland TA-5 Gunmetals. Although a great club, I felt I was missing the boat technology wise. Since then I have
owned Rac Combos(Too Bulky),Cobra 3100IH(Nice),Mizuno MX23(Too much vibration on miss hits),Ping G2,I5(Too light and over-rated!!)
When the store got the CG-4 irons I gave them a try since I always thought my old TA’s were still the most solid.
WOW!!!Can you say buttery soft!!!
I imediately bought a set and out-fitted them with rifle-flighted shafts.
My iron shots now seem laser guided,
beautiful trajectory with no harsh vibrations when miss-hit.
Confidence(90%of the game!)inspiring at
address,beautiful feel,just a great product from a very under-rated company!
My crack-head days are finally over!!!!

these. irons. are. sweet.
They hit unbelievebly soft even on most off-center hits. The feeling of a dead center hit is the best of any game improving iron. They hit straight if you want and, curve when you need em to. Oh yeah and I don’t know what these other guys are talkin about with the no change in distance, but i have two extra clubs on my old distance. On the monitor i hit a 5 iron 200, yeah i do feel special. This clubs are cool for another reason because no one i know has them.

I have been contemplating on buying these irons at first, but my irons have gone from super confident to scared at addressing balls. I felt that my S-yards were too light for my swing. Then just suddently decided to go for it. I would say that Cleveland is a company who benifits golfers. Super irons with so affordable price. What can I say, you have done a very good job. Good balance on the head and shaft. Feels as though gravity would take the iron to the ball, effortless swing. And i do agree with all the other reviewers that these irons do promote straight ball flights. They do not sacrifice distance on off centered hits. My bag is now full of Cleveland products, from driver to the irons. would want to try the CG 10 the next time. Cleveland rocks!

I’ve been looking to upgrade my beginner set to a set that I can grow into as I get better. I’d tried a variety of clubs and eventually settled on the Clevelands. The feel I get from the clubs are excellent. I hit a number of the other clubs just as straight and a few further but I’m going with these as they give me the best feel. Club feedback was the number one factor in my irons search. For the money I paid (year end sale), they’re good value for money. As I’ve mentioned, there are clubs that go further but they don’t feel this good to hit. Recommended!

i just got the clubs today and played with it without testing it on the driving range, well i got to admit i was very surprise how easy to hit these clubs. the feel and control it gave me is great compare to my old honma irons with graphite shaft. it lose out about 10 yards on the longer irons compare to the honma but it is more accurate and predictable which more than i can say about the honma since the cg4 is on a steel stiff shaft. i shoot 84 today which is good since my driver did not behave well and still manage to put more ball in regulation thank to the cg4 irons. Value for money on this clubs is outstanding compare to my honma set, you can buy the whole irons set with the price of one of my 3 star honma iron. Recommand this to everybody who is looking to change irons.

I bought the CG4’s based on the reviews I read on the internet without even hitting them… First day I got them I played in my league and fired a 4 over 76. These irons are unreal. Distance control, feel, shot shaping… A total package iron. I recommend these to anyone, mostly for people hanging on to a set of knock offs thinking “these are just as good as any $1000 set”… You couldn’t be more wrong. All I can say is hit these and you’ll see.

See you in the short stuff…
